What happens to the Data from Deleted Questions

Q. I deleted some questions while the survey was live and now when I download the data file, there is no data for those questions that were deleted. I deleted some questions after we were finished with the survey. Now, when I download the data, the data for the questions that were deleted is not in the data file.

A. The data for the deleted questions still exists. When downloading the data, SurveyWriter uses the current questionnaire configurations to build the data file. Since the questions you removed do not currently exist, the data collected for those questions is ignored. If you can recreate the questions with the associated response option, the data is then added to the data file.

Since you need the data for these questions but do not want these questions to be displayed to the respondent, you can use the Hidden Question function located in the Modify Options screen. This option allows the data to be downloaded for these questions but does not display these questions to the respondent.
